I wish to have a telescope to observe stars
First-grader Tae-Hyun suffers from leukemia and was often required by his doctors to stay indoors instead of playing with his friends outside during school. Fortunately, he loved to read and he was especially fond of The Little Prince written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Like the little prince, Tae-Hyun wished to have his own star in the sky.
Tae-Hyun learned about astrology and designated one big star in the sky as “Tae-Hyun’s Star”. When Make-A-Wish volunteers visited him to learn about his wish, he said, “I wish to watch my star every night with a telescope.”
A very special day at the Joong Moon Observatory in Korea was arranged for Tae-Hyun and his family. When he arrived, volunteers surprised him with a little prince costume and revealed his brand new telescope. The observatory staff taught him how to use the telescope and promised to respond to any questions he had in the future. Tae-Hyun was so amazed by his new possession and the fascinating world he could now see up-close.
His mother said, “I am so happy to see Tae Hyun’s dream come true and thankful for everyone’s generosity in making this unique wish a reality.”
