Shanghai Disneyland Resort Celebrates Make-A-Wish Shanghai Launch
Make-A-Wish® International is proud to announce and welcome Make-A-Wish Shanghai to the global Make-A-Wish family.
Make-A-Wish Shanghai adds to the growing base of Make-A-Wish International affiliates worldwide, now forty-one strong. The addition of Shanghai will only further help the organization achieve its vision of making every eligible child’s wish come true and is the first affiliate in mainland China.
The announcement was made today in front of the castle at Shanghai Disney Resort, with special guests Mickey and Minnie making an appearance to welcome Make-A-Wish to Shanghai. Shanghai Disney Resort supported the establishment of Make-A-Wish Shanghai, part of The Walt Disney Company’s long-time support of Make-A-Wish around the world.
Jon Stettner, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish International, acknowledges the importance of expanding the organization's global reach, "The impact of a wish experience spans a lifetime; strengthening children as they fight their illness, encouraging their families and inspiring their communities. We are dedicated to making every eligible child’s wish come true – impacting the lives of even more children, families and communities across the globe. Our continued growth is the key to achieving our vision."
Board Chair of Make-A-Wish Shanghai, Mr. Jerry Huang, expresses his excitement for the new affiliate, "all of the founding members of the Shanghai affiliate are delighted to be accepted as the 41st affiliate of the Make-A-Wish International family.  We hope that we can demonstrate as much commitment and energy to serve all the children of Shanghai that need our help, as we have witnessed from the overall organization and its existing members in so many countries and regions.  We are truly proud to be associated with all that has gone before us and we greatly look forward to making our contribution to the group's collective success."
Additional support for the opening of Make-A-Wish Shanghai was provided by corporate partners Blizzard Entertainment, Ferrari Greater China, The Peninsula Shanghai, and AIG.
With the addition of Shanghai to the Make-A-Wish International family, our mission will now impact children, families and communities in more than 50 countries and regions that we serve around the world.
