Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) Commitments

As a global charity helping to serve thousands of children in nearly 50 around the world, we are aware of the importance & the impact our organization can have, not only on the environment, but on society and the needs of present and future generations. We commit to contributing to a more sustainable world for a better future for our wish children.

Our ESG framework and agenda is detailed below and is based on the Sustainable Development Goals created by the United Nations, in order to work towards a more sustainable world.

Our Commitments

The global mission and work of Make-A-Wish is rooted in the principles of Positive Psychology, which explores the conditions that enable individuals and societies to flourish.

Positive psychology strives to enhance well-being. That is why at Make-A-Wish International our actions are defined by these principles of enhancing good health and well-being, both towards our beneficiaries and other stakeholders, as well as our staff.

Make-A-Wish International is commited to Responsible Consumption and Production.

We commit to incoprorating sustainability and ethics criteria into our procurement process.

We have implemented an office recyclable scheme at the Make-A-Wish International office in Hilversum, the Netherlands and are implementing equivalent measures for remote worker to encourage paperless work.

The fundamental purpose of a charity is to offer a public benefit and impact, that’s why it fits so well with the ESG principles, and why it’s so important to keep being transparent and act responsibly. We are aiming to have an effective, accountable and inclusive organization at all levels, and have implemented policies and strategies to achieve that.

Make-A-Wish International is strongly aligned to the SDG Goal 17 through our efforts in resource mobilization, capability building, and technology innovation. We secure financial resources via grants, donations, and partnerships to support our network of Affiliates, as well as build tools, trainings to empower them and develop capacities and best practices. Additionally, we promote access to sustainable technology, driving digital transformation with a responsible use of advanced technology tools.
