I wish to be a firefighter

Vicente, 12, Chile

Chronic Granulomatous Disease
A young boy wearing a black cap and white Make-A-Wish t-shirt holds a “1” trophy with the name “Vicente Pinto,” celebrating Vicente's wish to be a firefighter. He stands by a decorated table with balloons and greenery in the background.

Vicente’s wish to become a firefighter came true in an unforgettable way. Living with a rare critical illness, he dreamed of joining the ranks of those who protect and serve. On his special day, Vicente arrived at the fire station and was welcomed with warmth and respect by members of the fire department. He explored the trucks, learned about the equipment, and experienced what it feels like to be part of the team. The day ended with a heartfelt ceremony where Vicente was named an Honorary Firefighter — a powerful moment that celebrated his courage and determination. In Chile, firefighters serve as volunteers, and on this day, they gave back doubly to their community by becoming WishMakers, helping to make Vicente’s wish come true.
