I wish to have a Cargo bike

Two people ride a bike on a paved path through a park. The adult in front wears a helmet and black jacket, while the smiling child at the back wears a blue helmet and pink sweater, sitting comfortably. Green grass and trees are visible.

Meet Oliwia, an inspiring 15-year-old girl living in Dublin. Oliwia lives with epilepsy and Phelan-McDermid syndrome, a rare genetic condition that can affect brain development and function.

When Make-A-Wish met Oliwia and her parents, we discovered her love for the outdoors. One of her favourite pastimes is going on long cycles surrounded by nature. Oliwia wished for an electric cargo bike with a ‘captain’s chair’, so she could explore the outdoors more easily, alongside her family and her dog.

After hearing Oliwia’s wish, we began planning how to make it come true. We worked closely with a local bike specialist to find the perfect cargo bike tailored to Oliwia’s needs.

We invited Oliwia and her parents to take the bike on a test ride, and it was clear from Oliwia’s huge smiles that she loved it—it was just perfect for their family outings.

We also provided safety helmets and all the accessories needed to ensure Oliwia and her family could enjoy their adventures safely. Oliwia has already been out on the bike, soaking in the fresh air and, most importantly, spending quality time with her loved ones.

Her dad, Robert, later shared that Oliwia absolutely loves her new bike, and they’re planning a family trip in the coming weeks.

We’re absolutely delighted to have granted Oliwia’s wish and can’t wait to see her and her family enjoying many more joyful moments together.
