I wish to have a long beautiful dress with a purse

Farhiya, 10, Tanzania

Wilms tumor
A group of children and adults gather in a colorful room decorated with wall art and drawings. Two women in the center greet each other warmly, while others watch and interact around them.

10-year-old Farhiya has endured more than most children her age. Diagnosed with Wilms’ tumor, a type of kidney cancer, her world shifted dramatically-from school and play to hospital visits and treatments. Yet, Farhiya faced every step of her journey with remarkable courage.
When Make-A-Wish began its work in Tanzania, Farhiya was the very first child to embark on a wish journey. Her wish was simple yet heartfelt: a beautiful, long, princess-like dress with a matching purse. Her love for such dresses began when she saw a friend wearing one, and she couldn’t stop admiring it.
With the support of Make-A-Wish Tanzania, Farhiya’s dream came true. She beamed with joy as she slipped into her new outfit-radiant, graceful, and full of delight. In that moment, Farhiya wasn’t defined by her illness. She was a princess. A child. A dreamer. The hospital faded into the background, replaced by pure happiness.
Farhiya’s story is a powerful reminder of what a wish can do. It’s more than a gift-it’s a spark of hope, a moment of transformation, and a chance for a child to reclaim joy in the face of hardship.
