I wish to have a new room
Dimitra, 4, Greece
At just four years old, sweet Dimitra has already faced more than most children her
age. Since her diagnosis, she’s spent much of her young life away from home—
between hospital stays and guest houses—longing for the comfort and familiarity of
her own space.
Her greatest wish was simple, yet deeply meaningful: when she finally returned home,
she dreamed of having a brand-new room. A space where she could play with her
little sister, laugh freely, and create joyful memories that would help heal the difficult
days behind her.
Make-A-Wish stepped in to bring that dream to life. Inspired by Dimitra’s love of
beauty and imagination, the wish granters designed a magical room filled with flowers,
butterflies, and soft lights—a space where childhood could blossom again.
On the day her wish came true, Dimitra was up early, brimming with excitement. She
didn’t just watch the transformation—she led it. Giving instructions, playing with the
bed sheets and fairy lights, and carefully placing her toys on the bookshelf, she made
sure every detail was just right. Her joy was infectious, and her confidence lit up the
room.
But the most touching moment came at the end of the day, when Dimitra and her
little sister wrapped their arms around each other in a tight hug. As the wish granters
prepared to leave, the girls shouted, “I love you!”—a moment that captured the heart
of everything this wish was about.
“It was the best wish in the world!” Dimitra told us, her face glowing with happiness.
We hope her new room is filled with nothing but laughter, love, and dreams come
true.
