I wish to go on a boat

When the Make-A-Wish team first met Prerana, she had been undergoing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia for three months. The illness had cast a shadow over the whole family, and the smile that once came so easily had begun to fade.
But when asked about her deepest wish, Prerana’s eyes lit up. She wanted to celebrate her birthday on a ship, out on the open sea.
On the day of her wish, Prerana and her family made their way to the Gateway of India. Her mother told the team that Prerana had been too excited to sleep the night before. When they arrived and saw the yacht waiting for them, Prerana couldn’t believe her eyes. She later told the team that it was so much bigger and better than her imagination!
As the yacht set sail, the excitement on board was infectious. The crew warmly welcomed the family and showed Prerana around. She spent time sitting on the net, watching the water below her, feeling the cool breeze on her face. Her laughter and mischief with her siblings brought a smile to everyone’s face. Meanwhile, the crew had arranged a beautifully decorated cake cutting area in the cabin. Prerana cut her birthday cake as everyone sang to her, received gifts, and celebrated surrounded by the people she loves most.
For a family navigating one of the hardest journeys of their lives, this birthday was a reminder that even in the most diffi cult chapters, happiness can still find its way in.
