MAWI Content Guidelines

At Make-A-Wish International, impactful and respectful communication is essential while engaging with the community and creating a positive impact in the life of children facing critical illnesses. By following our content guidelines, we make sure that the information shared on all of our channels reflects our values and we aim to inspire you to help grant life-changing wishes.

Our Vision

Make-A-Wish’s vision is to grant the wish of every eligible child. Wish experiences help children with critical illnesses to reclaim their childhood. Every 25 seconds a child is diagnosed with a critical illness and must face an often grueling treatment journey. With your help, we aim to bring the power of a wish to every child who is living with a critical illness.

Our Mission

Our mission is to grant life-changing wishes to children with critical illness. In doing so, we help them reclaim their childhood. The impact of a wish extends beyond a child to their family and community and can have long-lasting positive effects. It can improve a child’s wellbeing and support family bonding and help them look to the future.

  • Simplicity – At Make-A-Wish International we aim to create concise, clear and transparent content that is easy to understand.

  • Impact – A wish has the power to bring hope and joy to the life of a child facing critical illness, helping to restore childhood. We want to share the incredible impact of a wish with everyone.

  • Respect – All content created and published by Make-A-Wish is written with the utmost respect for the experiences and perspectives of children with critical illnesses and their families. We are grateful to the wish children and families featured for consenting to us sharing their stories.

  • Integrity- The personal stories we share are true and reflect the impact of a wish.

Accuracy and Data

We rely on accurate data to support the claims we make as well as to illustrate how the lives of the children we serve have improved since receiving a wish and to demonstrate our need for support.

Independent Research.

We engage independent research agencies to help us strive towards achieving our vision of granting the wish of every eligible child. We aim for this research to be as inclusive as possible of the children and families we serve around the world. Where possible we will share methodology and results of such research.
