a banner entitled "Sparks of Hope" with a call-to-action to donate

These long summer days allow most children to enjoy the freedom of the outdoors, exploring, growing, making new friends. But for children living with critical illnesses, little changes as they continue treatment, remain in isolation and watch the summer go by from a bedroom or hospital window. And parents and families look on with worry as the joy fades from their little one’s eyes.

That’s where we come in. The hope inspired by a wish can bring transformational and renewing energy, and give children with critical illnesses the strength to continue in their treatment journey.

Lilian's wish to have a treehouse

Lilian is a spontaneous and talkative 6-year-old girl that makes the whole world shine every time she smiles. Her parents told us that the last 370 days were very difficult, with endless hours of treatments and hospitalization to fight leukemia.

Lilian wished for a tree house and had planned every down to the last detail including rainbow and unicorn decorations! When Lilian finally saw the finished tree house she was amazed, shouting “It’s perfect! It’s perfect!” From now on, she has her own space, giving her the joyful moments she missed during the time she was at the hospital.

There are many more children like Lilian who need our help. Will you help us grant their wishes faster, this August?

Cassandra’s Story

Cassandra's wish to have an animal adventrue

A child’s fight against a critical illness is not only physically exhausting – it is traumatic. A spark of hope can ignite a world of possibilities for a child and their family.

Cassandra is a bright 6-year-old girl who doesn’t let her illness get her down! She is interested in everything that has to do with animals and wants to become a veterinarian. So her wish was quickly clear: “an adventure with animals” and added that she really wants to hold a big spider!

On her wish day Cassandra and her family went to the Reptilium in Landau (Germany) where they got an exclusive tour. Equipped with her adventure outfit, she got to feed the raccoons and the alligators! She learned a lot about bearded dragons, turtles, snakes, and of course she FINALLY got to hold a big spider in her hand.

After the wish day, we received this message from Cassandra’s mum: “It was simply unbelievably beautiful what the team has put together for Cassandra – we will all talk about this experience for a long time! Cassandra is so happy.”
