We grant 5 types of wishes
I wish to be
Children often imagine stepping into someone else’s shoes—becoming a wildlife expert, a performer on stage, a scientist in a lab, or even a pilot soaring through the skies. These wishes let them experience a role they admire, giving them a sense of hope for the future and pride in who they can become.
I wish to meet
Meeting someone they look up to can be incredibly powerful. Whether it’s a sports star, a musician, a writer, or someone who’s made a difference in their community, these encounters can inspire children and make them feel that their dreams are within reach.
I wish to have
Some wishes are about receiving something special — an item that brings joy, comfort, or creativity. It could be a musical instrument, a set of books, a cosy space to relax, or something they’ve long hoped for. These gifts often become treasured parts of their lives.
I wish to go
For some children, a wish is a doorway to adventure. They might dream of exploring a new city, feeling the ocean breeze on a quiet beach, hiking through mountain trails, or experiencing the excitement of a live event. Whether it’s a journey to nature, culture, or celebration, these wishes offer a chance to discover the world beyond their everyday surroundings.
I wish to give
In a beautiful act of kindness, some children choose to use their wish to help others. They might want to support a local cause, donate to a hospital, or create something that brings joy to their community. These wishes reflect a deep sense of empathy and the desire to make a positive impact.
I wish to have a long beautiful dress with a purse
10-year-old Farhiya has endured more than most children her age. Diagnosed with Wilms’ tumor, a type of kidney cancer, her world shifted dramatically-from school and play to hospital visits and treatments.
I wish to have a special bike
Paolo and his family are an inspiring example of life. They have managed to conquer a normalcy full of love and hope, despite the complexities of their daily lives. Some time ago, Laura, Paolo’s mom, contacted us looking for support in dealing with the challenges their family experiences every day.
I wish to go to a dinosaur park
João Artur is a charming young boy with a passion for dinosaurs and a smile that lights up every room. He lives with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a rare genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle weakness. Despite the challenges it brings, João continues to spread joy and curiosity wherever he goes.
I wish to be a scientist
When nine-year-old Audrina from Derby grows up, she wants to find a cure for diseases and cancers like the neuroblastoma that she was diagnosed with. Her wish to be a scientist and examine an array of cells gave her valuable insight into that future and a career as an immunologist.
I wish to be a doctor
At just five years old, the lively and cheerful Arsyla suddenly developed a fever and weakness in her legs. Her parents rushed her to the nearest hospital, where the doctor immediately referred her to a specialised cancer hospital, and Arsyla was diagnosed with leukemia.
I wish to have a Cargo bike
I wish to have.. Meet Oliwia, an inspiring 15-year-old girl living in Dublin. Oliwia lives with epilepsy and Phelan-McDermid syndrome, a rare genetic condition that can affect brain development and function. When Make-A-Wish met Oliwia and her parents, we discovered her love for the outdoors. One of her favourite pastimes is going on long cycles surrounded by nature.
I wish to meet my favourite singer
One of Make-A-Wish Sri Lanka’s first wish children following their launch in 2025 was Rasindu. Rasindu has been through intensive treatment for B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Through it all, one thing brought him comfort—listening to his favourite singer, Amisha Minol.
I wish to be a cowboy
By age 7, João was constantly unwell and his parents were getting worried. After many tests, he was diagnosed with cancer. He went into remission after chemotherapy, but sadly, the cancer returned. Now, João awaits a bone marrow transplant.
I wish to have a tablet to watch unicorn cartoons
Jennifer is a cheerful and brave little girl. While undergoing treatment for cancer and spending long periods away from her friends, she found comfort in watching cartoons especially ones featuring unicorns!
